Engineering mathematics is a branch of applied mathematics concerning mathematical methods and techniques that are typically used in engineering. It is important to learn the conceptual structure and terminology of the different areas of engineering mathematics as it helps us in identifying the right group for any new problem.
Engineering Mathematics is one of the important subjects for GATE/ESE examinations. Engineering Mathematics not just boosts the score but improves the analytical ability also.
Engineering Mathematics holds 15% weightage in GATE for most of Engineering subject paper like: AE, AG, BM, BT, CE, CH, CS, EC, EE, ES, IN, ME, MN, MT, PE, PI, TF, and XE. The weightage of ENGINEERING MATHEMATICS in ESE general studies paper is about 10 to 15%.

WHAT IS GATE?
Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering or GATE is the competitive exam to test the comprehensive understanding of graduate and undergraduate subjects in science and engineering for admission into a master’s Program of educational institutes and public sector companies.
Qualifying in GATE is a mandatory requirement for seeking admission and/or financial assistance to: (i) Master’s programs and direct Doctoral programs in Engineering/Technology/Architecture and (ii) Doctoral programs in relevant branches of Science, in the institutions supported by the MHRD and other Government agencies. Even in some colleges and institutions, which admit students without MHRD scholarship/assistantship, the GATE qualification is mandatory. Further, many Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) have been using the GATE score in their recruitment process
Who conducts GATE?
The Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is an examination conducted jointly by the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore and the seven Indian Institutes of Technology (at Bombay, Delhi, Guwahati, Kanpur, Kharagpur, Madras and Roorkee) on behalf of the National Coordination Board (NCB)-GATE, Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India.
